Kate Torrance departs SickKids for C-Suite role at CAMH

Kate Torrance has departed SickKids Foundation after close to 11 years to take on the role of chief brand and growth officer at CAMH Foundation, according to a LinkedIn post from the hospital’s fundraising arm.

In her new position, Torrance (pictured) will lead brand, marketing and mass revenue as the organization looks to solidify its status as a national and global leader in mental health.

Torrance’s career at SickKids Foundation began in October 2015 upon being hired as a director of integrated brand marketing and served for the past three-plus years as its VP, head of brand, content and communications.

Josh Lai was also appointed as CAMH’s new VP of philanthropy in Tuesday afternoon’s joint announcement.

“This is strength meeting strength,” Anne-Marie Newton, president and CEO of the CAMH Foundation said in statement on LinkedIn. “I can’t wait to see what they’ll learn, how they’ll challenge us to think even bigger, and the new doors they’ll open to help us improve care and outcomes for people living with mental illness across Canada and beyond.”

At SickKids, Torrance supported the public launch of the Precision Child Health, a program that generated more than 300 million earned-media impressions and helped secure more $700 million in early campaign commitments. She also helped develop work for the category-busting “VS” platform, launched with Cossette in 2016, and more recently the 2026 Marketing Awards-winning campaigns “The Count” (two Gold) and “Fight For Every Birthday” (Bronze). “The Count” also earned Gold, Silver and two Bronze Lions at Cannes last year.

Torrance spent much of her pre-SickKids career agency side, working for the likes of Zulu Alpha Kilo as a group account director and managing director and BBDO as a VP and account director.

More to come.
