
RBC has been joined by TD Bank in the latest Kantar BrandZ top 100 global brands ranking.
The marketing data, insights and consultancy company develops its list by combining financial performance with consumer perception across 545 categories and more than 22,000 brands worldwide.
RBC ranked in at 55 this year, up four spots from 2025 when it was the lone Canadian on the list, while TD Bank cracked the top 100 at 95. The companies claimed the top two spots in the Canadian rankings released last fall.
Atop the global table, Google took over the number-one spot that Apple had held since 2022. Google, Apple and fellow top 10 finishers Microsoft and Amazon comprise a group whose brand value has eclipsed one trillion dollars. Nvidia, Facebook, Instagram, Tencent, Oracle and McDonald’s round out the top 10.
Media and entertainment brands surged as the category grew by 40% year over year in Kantar’s assessment for brand value, with growth driven by platform giants such as YouTube, WeChat and TikTok.
Business technology and services platforms saw overall year-over-year brand growth of 25% as new entry, Claude, saw paid subscriptions for its AI services more than double in early 2026.
Financial services saw growth of 20%, as Visa led the way with a 7% bump, while retail brands saw year-over-year brand growth of 18%, led by online shopping platform Taobao and Walmart.
In food and beverage, energy-drink brand Monster saw a 51% gain, while competitor Red Bull (2nd spot) saw a 22% gain.
Among QSRs, KFC saw the biggest brand-value gain at 20%, with Kantar pointing to the restaurant’s “rebuilt visibility” and focus on core assets, such as the Colonel, original recipe, and “bold, entertainment-led campaigns” as keys to success.
The biggest brand-value declines by sector were in luxury good (minus-8%), alcohol (minus-7%), apparel (minus-5%), and personal care (minus-4%).
