Jennifer DelVecchio is taking over the CMO position at McDonald’s Canada in the latest shakeup to the QSR’s marketing leadership structure.

Effective June 16, DelVecchio is relocating to Canada from Chicago, where she spent the past five-plus years in various senior roles at McDonald’s, most recently as the beverages and desserts category lead. She takes over from Francesca Cardarelli, who will be moving into a newly created global marketing role at McDonald’s HQ in Chicago after being appointed CMO for Canada in January 2025.

DelVecchio will be responsible for driving brand relevance, guest engagement and long-term growth across the market, McDonald’s said in a release, adding that her tenure in Chicago was instrumental when it came to building the brand’s fandom through global campaigns and helping refresh the Happy Meal program.

Her credits include developing a licensed collaboration for A Minecraft Movie with Warner Bros. Discovery, which ran from March to May last year. According to McDonald’s, the campaign was among the most successful in its history and helped drive sales increases of 2.8% in the U.S. and 3.8% internationally in the quarter.

“As we look to the future, true leadership requires anticipating what our guests will crave tomorrow,” said Annemarie Swijtink, who was appointed  McDonald’s Canada president and CEO last July. “We are excited to welcome Jennifer back to Canada; her global expertise with a distinctly Canadian understanding will be a powerful catalyst for our next chapter of growth and innovation.”
