Leo Toronto has appointed Adriano Matos as its new chief creative officer, with current CCO Angus Tucker transitioning to the role of creative chairman after close to two years in the position.
Matos joins the shop’s Toronto office after spending the past year and a half as Leo’s global executive creative director in Chicago, where he led creative on key accounts, including McDonald’s rollout across more than 20 international markets.
Previously, he served as the global ECD at Ogilvy (June 2023 to January 2025), and as global EVP and ECD during his first stop at Leo’s Chicago office (March 2020 to May 2023). He has also worked in senior creative leadership roles at WPP (Ogilvy and VML Commerce), Publicis and Wieden+Kennedy.

Among his accolades are a pair of Cannes Grand Prix: Grey Brazil’s 2018 “Corruption Detector,” a mobile tool for consumer protection platform Reclame Aqui that allowed users to receive information about politicians’ histories; and Leo Burnett’s 2022 “Thighstop” campaign, which rebranded Wingstop restaurants during a supply chain shortage.
“Adriano is an exceptional creative leader whose work has consistently demonstrated that creativity can build brands, transform businesses and inspire people. Just as importantly, he shares Leo’s belief that the most powerful ideas begin with a genuine understanding of human behaviour, ” Leo Toronto president Ben Tarr said in a release.
Tucker takes on his new creative chairman roll after two years overseeing Leo Toronto’s creative output, including brand platforms for clients such as TD, Bell and Starbucks.
“Angus has helped redefine Leo Toronto,” Tarr said. “His leadership has shaped our culture, strengthened our client relationships and helped build an agency with extraordinary momentum. We’re grateful that he’ll continue to help guide our future as creative chairman.”
