Pomp & Circumstance launches RTD to toast 10 years in business

Pomp & Circumstance is marking its 10-year anniversary with the launch of Pomp, a vodka spritzer inspired by the client that helped put the agency on the map.

Chief creative officer Lindsay Mattick says the goal for the cherry-flavoured RTD was to push the teams across Pomp & Circumstance and sister agency Bonus Track into new creative territory as a “full-circle nod to our roots in the spirit space.” Bacardi was Pomp & Circumstance’s first-ever client win in 2016.

“We wanted to explore the beverage category as a different avenue to express our creative capabilities to help us mark this moment in time,” Mattick tells strategy. “The idea our team fell in love with was launching a spirit, paying homage to the fact that, when we launched the agency, one of the world’s largest spirits portfolios was our first client.”

The product is being sold online as of Thursday as the agency works toward an LCBO launch with planned support through a media and influencer campaign.

“We’re starting here, but the sky’s the limit on where the drink ends up,” Mattick says. “While creating an RTD represents a new category for us, it’s a category we have a ton of experience in so we’re excited to see where it goes.”

Meanwhile, the shop has also announced a brand refresh that Mattick says reflects the agency’s evolution over the past decade.

With musicality and boldness embedded in both brands’ names and positioning, the visual update brings those ideas to life through an identity rooted in rhythm and movement, Mattick adds. “We also wanted a distinctive symbol, not just a logo. The ampersand became that for us: a stamp, a signature and a playful signal that ‘P&C is here.’”

Founded by Mattick and Amanda Alvaro in December 2015 after the pair’s tenure at Narrative PR, Pomp & Circumstance opened its doors as a PR agency in early 2016. The indie shop has since worked with numerous high-profile brands, including GE Appliances, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Shake Shack, and grown to 50 employees. Pomp & Circumstance launched the creative agency Bonus Track in 2022 and welcomed Rob Loschiavo and Erika Ceddia as partners in 2024.
