Jackpot City doubles down on its ‘Free Taxi’ campaign

Jackpot City Casino’s “Free Taxi” campaign is back on the streets of Toronto as it continues to raise the stakes on its annual experiential activation.

The casino’s purple-wrapped free cabs rolled out at the start of the month, offering commuters a complimentary ride anywhere in the city for the chance to win several cash prizes. Escalating weekly cash prizes are once again at the centre of the month-long event, which started with a $3,000 jackpot during the week of Aug. 1 and will build toward a $30,000 grand finale for one lucky passenger on Aug. 31.

Jackpot City says it has given away more than 5,600 free rides and $43,000 in prize money since the campaign began in 2023. Brett White, Jackpot’s country head for Ontario, tells strategy that positive consumer sentiment and continued brand awareness growth drove the decision to bring the giveaway back in 2026.

“In a crowded category where brands often rely on similar digital tactics, this gave us an ownable platform that delivers real value to consumers while creating authentic, highly shareable moments,” White says. “It has evolved into something people actively look forward to rather than simply another campaign we launch.”

The cabs circulate the city seven days a week, with Statement Media managing taxi wraps, digital and static taxi tops throughout the month. Jackpot City covers the costs of all cab fares throughout the activation.

“Rather than constantly reinventing the concept, we’ve focused on evolving and improving it each year,” White says. “That approach has allowed us to increase awareness, expand reach and deliver even greater value to consumers while maintaining a clear connection to the Jackpot City brand.”
